#056 - The German Concert Experiment, Skip That Track, Review The Review: Imploding The Mirage (The Killers)

Greg discovered that some restless Germans have conducted an indoor concert experiment. Contrary to the story cited, we believe the reported purpose of this experiment to be a ruse. The researchers were really testing whether they could come up with a valid reason to get the hell out of their homes and see a freaking show already. The answer to their question appears to be yes. Naturally they decided to also record and measure a lot of important data points so they could put out a useful findings report and maintain their reputations, but, we know why they really did it! ;-) For real though, if this does anything, like anything at all, to help concerts come back safely & soon, then it’s totally worth it! Greg’s Song: Deftones - Ohms

On a recent weekend, Jay found himself driving his son home from the playground with the car stereo randomly selecting tracks from a huge library when it happened. It’d been years since the last time, he’d honestly almost forgotten about it…. I mean, with a library with thousands and thousands of songs… how much time would you need to spend in a car before the same song came up twice? Jay figured years seemed about right, and now, here it was, a needle sized turd of a song in a vast library that’d taken his lifetime to assemble. The play count on “She’s Waiting” by Eric Clapton had just reached 4.

It’s not really a new bit yet, but it might be. Songs that we hate by artists we otherwise love. We’re thinking about calling it “Skip That Track”, what do you think?

Also, we remember Justin Townes Earle, who passed this weekend at the age of 38.
Jay’s Songs:
Eric Clapton - She’s Waiting
Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue

Nick stumbled across “Imploding the Mirage”, the latest album by The Killers & was both blown away and very confused. A second listen while mowing the lawn left him with the same exact feeling. Third and fourth listens alongside the family did nothing to abate the unease. What the hell does Brandon Flowers sound like when he sings like Brandon Flowers?? Finally, desperate to see if this was bothering anyone else, he turned to the place where you go to see if anyone could find something bad to say about an album. No, not reddit, he went to the bottom of the barrel, Pitchfork. So we Review the Review & share our own thoughts about the album. This one was a whole lot of fun!
Songs:
The Killers - My Own Soul’s Warning
The Killers - Caution
The Killers - Fire in Bone
